| Programming highlights of the year included a visit from Will Hillenbrand, author/illustrator of What a Treasure, the state-wide “One Book, Every Young Child” selection of the year; and the first Monroe County Book Expo, a day-long showcase for the published works of Monroe County residents. The EMPL website was used 95,369 times, an increase of 11% over 2009. State aid was again reduced below budgeted amounts, but local income helped offset that loss. Thanks to the Frances M. and R. Dale Hughes Foundation, EMPL can continue to upgrade public internet stations and access. While this report is filled with numbers, the year was actually filled with people of all ages attending meetings and programs, reading and viewing stories, using computers to communicate, learn and play. EMPL is public service 7 days a week and always online. |
