ARTIST LIZ PEMBERTON TO APPEAR AT MONROE COUNTY LIBRARIES

Accomplished Fiber Artist Liz Pemberton, who works in textiles, quilts, and collage, will offer two special presentations in Monroe County in celebration of African American History Month.

On Saturday, February 20th, Ms. Pemberton will appear at the Pocono Mountain Public Library in Tobyhanna, and on Sunday, February 21st at Eastern Monroe Public Library in Stroudsburg. Both events will begin at 2 PM. The Eastern Monroe Public Lirbary program is EMPL's 2010 National African American Read-In event. EMPL annually participates in the Read-In, sponsored by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English and the NCTE. The event aims to make literacy an integral part of African American History Month programming. Special book displays will highlight the literary achievements of African Americans.

At both libraries, Ms. Pemberton will read her children's book, An Autumn Sunrise, and will discuss her artistic process, and the creative journey which led to the publication of her book. She will also read the poem which will be the text for her second book. Ms. Pemberton's original artwork will be on display for both events. Ms. Pemberton will sign copies of her hardcover book, which will be available for sale at the special price of $30 each. A special selection of unique gift items featuring Ms. Pemberton’s works of art will also be available for sale to attendees.
