It costs library patrons a great deal of money and inconvenience.
The Eastern Monoroe Public Library, in an effort to save taxpayers’ money, has undertaken
a program to recover items and fines that are seriously overdue. We have hired Unique
Management Services, a collection agency that works with libraries throughout the United
States.
All unresolved library accounts over $25.00 will be turned over to
Unique Management Services and an additional charge of $10.00
will be added to the balance.
Why is this policy necessary?
The library is committed to provide service and materials that meet patrons’ needs.
Materials not returned become unavailable for other patrons to borrow.
If materials are not returned, money from the library budget is used to replace them,
rather than purchasing new items.
Patrons who fail to return library materials after repeated reminders are guilty of stealing from the library.
Fortunately, only a very small percentage of library users do not return materials as agreed.
This policy will not affect patrons who return materials on time.
DON’T BE A PART OF THE PROBLEM!
Return books and materials promptly so others may use them.
Renew items by phone, through the catalog, or in person at any EMPL Branch.
Pay fines when due.
Your efforts will help library money go further for the entire community.
